How I Stay Stress Free

Being a college student can be a very stressful time. Your job isn't paying you that much, you have to study for exams, you barely have any free time, and the free time you do have is usually shuffled in between work, classes, organizations, and napping.

Although college can be very stressful, it has also been one of the best experiences of my life. You have to learn how to find a healthy way to manage your stress. Stress is often inevitable there's really not any way to avoid it. But that doesn't mean that you have to let it control your life.

So I decided to share a list on how I stay stress free while being a full-time (working) student. Keep on reading to find out my top 10 tips. 

  1. Find an on-campus job
  2. Give yourself at least ONE relaxation day out of the week
  3. DON'T PROCRASTINATE! No seriously don't
  4. Give yourself some ME time
  5. Express yourself, let your creative juices flow
  6. Go visit your family
  7. Join an organization
  8. Find a good church home
  9. Get a pet
  10. Give yourself a mental break

The biggest thing that I can stress on this list is time management. Learning how to plan your weeks, and prioritize things that you have coming up is one of the key skills you should learn in college. This is something that helped me get through all aspects of college life. 

Another thing that saved me from stress in college is joining organizations. Joining different organizations helped me meet new people and be around like-minded individuals who shared the same interest as me. There's literally an org for EVERYTHING in college. Don't be afraid to go visit meetings to see which orgs you like. A lot of the time they'll have free food, so what do you have to lose?


If you're having a hard time in college (or even in life) don't worry it'll get better. The main goal is to FINISH. Don't get caught up in what other people are doing and DO NOT constantly compare yourself to others. I can't stress enough how important that is.

If you're constantly comparing yourself to other people, I promise you will go insane. Trust me, I've seen it happen.
